Rusty Car

A quick post today, I made this card to fit this week's Sketch Saturday challenge. I've had the stamp I used on this one for years and I've never used it which is terrible of me but better late than never eh!

 Funstamps - Vintage Car
HotP - Sarabooks Ivory
Spellbinders- Sprightly Sprockets / Labels 17
Tim Holtz Alterations - Elegant Spirals

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

I used Brushed Corduroy DI to add more depth to the papers I used and then gold ink to highlight the gears and mat.

Detail of car, sorry light is a bit funky due to the brilliant sunshine (not complaining btw)

Detail of cogs

I'll be back later to catch up, for now I'm going to enjoy the sunshine!

In the Pink

I know that on Monday I said I would post on Tuesday but I got a bit waylaid. As I said I'm going to give an explanation for my recent absence. Well without going into yet another lot of moaning I've been on a set of injections to do with my medical condition. The injections left me rather ill with headaches and all sorts of aches and pains so I've not really felt like crafting or going online. The injections have finished now and I'm hoping that the side effects will settle more. The results of the injections is that I'm being moved on to another hospital department for further investigations because they're still not sure what's wrong with me. The injections did let them know that the problem isn't related to my ovaries, so I'm hoping that soon they'll find out what's making me ill.

Anyway, moving on I'm posting a card for a few challenges.

TGF - Miss Anya Collection
First Edition - Bird Song
Marianne Design Creatables Die - Branch Garden
Cheery Lynn Designs Dies - Exotic Butterflies Small
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

I used this card to practice a different skin tone, I'm quite happy with how it turned out.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #68: Birthday Balloon Bonanza

It's time again for a new challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers. Crikey it seems that fortnights are flying by to me at the moment. It's another great challenge this time set by the extremely talented  Mynnette!

She says "My birthday is May 13th, so I'd like to see some projects with balloon images!!! :) Any type of balloon will do - hot air balloon, helium balloon, balloon animal.  And anything birthday will do, but I want a balloon on it" :)

As always we have two brilliant sponsors for the challenge. Firstly, we are kindly sponsored  by The Stamp Man (and Lady of course!) who are offering the winner a £10 voucher for their store, you can spend this online, in the shop or if you're lucky enough to see them at a show! They have a ton of items in store, enough to tickle any crafty taste bud.

and

$10 Gift Voucher
who have a really sweet collection of images to choose from
both prizes are fabulous I think you'll agree.

So on to the card I've created for this challenge. I was inspired by a card I'd created at a craft class when I created this one.  It's not an exact copy of the original but I wanted to try the colouring technique we'd used and mess around with stamping textures. I personally think it looks great with a hot air balloon.

Stampendous Jumbo Cling - Steampunk Balloon
Stampers Anonymous - Part of a word set stamp
Hero Arts - Large Delicate Woven Fabric
Distress Inks - Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire and Dusty Concord
Bakers twine and gems from stash

I guess "part of a word stamp" sounds rather vague, I'll be honest and say I lost the paper that told me the name of the stamp set I own. I've looked around the interwebs for the set but can't find it. The stamp is available on the "Stuff to Say" set by Stampers Anonymous. However, that isn't the set I have, mine is a small mix of grungy elements (it has a mix of stuff from both "Bitty Grunge" and "Psychedelic Grunge" on it) - if anyone knows the name of it I'd be most grateful if you could let me know. Plus it's actually a really nice set to own for starting out with grungy textures so I'd love to be able to tell people it's name!

So, to create the background I covered the entire card in Peacock Feathers (the DI not real ones) and squirted it with water mixed with Heirloom Gold Perfect Pearls. I then used Chipped Sapphire on the outer edges blending it towards the centre but leaving an area of the paler colour visible. I then blended in a small amount of Dusty Concord, I also used this colour to add a bit of texture using the woven fabric stamp and a home made mask that is a bit like a piece of sequin waste (basically I punched a load of holes into a piece of waxed card) I stamped the balloon onto the background and then stamped it again on to white card and cut out the balloon and wings and layered these over the image. I then stamped the "Dream" greeting and added this to the card. I finished with a piece of baker's twine and some black gems.  Oh and I created the black mat with white card edged with black Promarker (I'm trying to save money at the moment).

Please do check out the Crafty Cardmakers blog and take a look at the work the DT have created, it's sure to inspire you! We'd love for you to join in with the challenge.

Thanks for popping by my blog. I'll be back tomorrow with an explanation for my absence over the last few weeks. I hope that you are well and I'm looking forward to a catch up with people.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #67: For the Boys

This weeks challenge has been set by the very talented Sally.  She would like a male themed project. This could be for a big boy, a little boy or a baby boy, so long as it's male themed.

We have two sponsors for this challenge, firstly
who are offering a £10 voucher for their store

and secondly by
who are offering a $10 voucher for their store

My card for this challenge is one I created for my hubbie's birthday. He's a gamer so the Mo Manning image I chose was perfect for him. I coloured the image to look like my hubbie is his lounge clothes, he's not one for the junk food but I do often find my self picking up his copies of Edge.

 Mo Manning - Game On
DCWV - Generation Tech

Close up, the image was coloured with Promarkers and Derwent colouring pencils

I hope you will join in with the challenge, I know that a lot of us find making cards for men difficult. I'm looking forward to seeing your creations and getting inspiration from them.

Thanks for popping by, I hope you're well.

Easter Bag-alopes

My mum asked me to create some bags for my niece's and nephew's Easter goodies this year, so I went with making Bag-alopes. I kept the design quite simple as the idea was to get the twins involved in helping create them but they weren't interested in crafting yesterday when I spent the day with them so my mum and I ended up making them ourselves.

I've only included the original design idea in these photos but we did end up making them in a variety of colours and then adapted the bag-alopes to just look like a paper bag with string handles for my older nephews. Sadly I didn't have time to get pictures and I doubt I will seeing as Easter is very soon.

LotV - Leap Frog
Wilko's C4 self seal envelopes
Paper and ribbon from stash

If you're interested in knowing how to make a bag-alope let me know and I can post instructions on how I did this one.

Well that's it from me, I'm hoping Blogger gets sorted out soon seeing as it's not showing my posts updating. I'm finding it really frustrating - does anyone know how to fix this? I've looked online but couldn't really work out an answer. Any help would be gratefully received.

Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #65: Easter

The challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers this time has been set by the talented Doreen and she's set the theme of Easter.

We are sponsored for this challenge by
Who are offering a $10 Gift Certificate for their store to the challenge winner

We are also delighted to be sponsored by Hobby Art with two gorgeous stamp sets as their prize.
 Bordered Poppy
Spring Clear Set

I don't usually make Easter cards so it took me a while to decide what to do. In the end I chose to make a traditional card and to keep it very CAS.

I believe the stamp was from Elusive Images although I'm not 100% sure
Stampendous Detail Copper embossing powder
Viva Decor Pearl Pen Bronze

I stamped the cross three times and cut out some elements of the image to decoupage. To finish the card I added three "pearls" using a pearl pen.

A side view to show the decoupaged areas

Please pop over to Crafty Cardmakers and check out what the DT have created, they're sure to inspire you. Thanks for paying my blog a visit it's much appreciated.
